Mad About Prints

Have you ever had one of those days when you look in your closet and think... I just need something easy to wear today. No? Well then good for you. Anyways, I have found that there is nothing like a strong interesting print to get the outfit imagination going. Why is this easy you ask? Well, If you invest in a statement print, whether it is a top, pant, dress, or skirt, all you need are simple neutrals to pair with it, and voila, you have a chic outfit.

There couldn't be a better time to invest in a print, because A) It's summer and bright colors, interesting shapes, and florals are in high demand B) There is something about a timeless print that can make any outfit exciting, and C) Honestly, you need to have a little more excitement in your life.

Here are a few prints that I am loving right now...

Reincarnation

Sooo ya, I didn't realize how long it has been since I have written a blog post. I really need to be better about this...

To give you a quick update on my life over the last few months...

I have been working, traveling, spending time with family/friends, and acquiring some fantastic pieces to add to my wardrobe. Some of these items include: cherry red Alexander McQueen pumps, a black silk jumpsuit from Moschino, and some YSL shades... not to mention some items from the oh-so-affordable Target collections, including: Prabal Gurung, Marc Jacobs and Robert Rodriguez.

The good news is I have been through many fashion experiences during my "blog hiatus" and am excited to get the old wheel turning again. The bad news is..well.. I haven't posted a blog since, like, November? whoops?

Anyway, it is now May here in Austin and the hot weather looming ahead is reminding me of all of the creative fashions that await. Although fall/winter are my favorite fashion seasons, I want to be fashionable all year long, so I shall start blog reincarnation on summer fashion... enjoy.

Velvety Goodness

Happy November friends!

I hope you are all as excited as I am for this month....
why am I so excited you ask?? Well....mostly because it is my birthday month... BUT... it is also a month full of my Fall and Winter clothing favorites...fur, chunky knits, pea coats, boots, layers, etc..

One of the trends that I am loving this Fall/Winter is velvet.
There are so many ways to add this fabric to your wardrobe...
Whether it is on a loafer or blazer, velvet can add an effortless chicness to your work or weekend go-to outfit.

Here are a few velvet pieces to inspire you for your next shopping spree.. I am definitely eyeing that black Zara blazer for a birthday present idea! ; )

Pajama Party

Pajama Party... I bet you are interested to know what sort of fashionable pajamas I am talking about...? Well... let me just tell you..

Actually, what I am talking about is more of a pajama inspired trend that I have been seeing lately... and I love it. Who wouldn't want to be confortable and fashionable at the same time?

The other day I went to my favorite designer consignment shop here in Ausitn, and spotted a beautiful silk blouse by Grahm & Spencer.. The material was like butter and fit like a glove, and I loved the pajama style pockets on the front.

If you are truly a fashion daredevil you can try the trend on top and bottom. For a more subtle look, pair a great pajama inspired blouse with cropped cigarette pants for work, or a pair of boyfriend jeans for weekend errands.

Here is how I wore my pajama inspired top...(Excuse the shitty phone camera quality...haha at least you can see the clothes pretty well..)

...For Work...
Silk Blouse: Grahm & Spencer
Cropped Pants: Zara
Pumps: Botique 9
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Earings: Kendra Scott
Leather and Leopard Calf Hair Bag: Hype

OR...

...Date Night...
Silk Blouse: Grahm & Spencer
Leggings: Joes
Pumps: Asos
Leather and Leopard Calf Hair Bag: Hype

Rihanna took a huge fashion risk with this number, but the fit and style made it work! Love her for being such a fashion daredevil

Here is another optoion from Glamour magazine, spotted at Fashion Week

Now I am not saying to go dig in your drawer for some old PJs.... Look for a modern pattern in good quality materials...also, make sure the shape is fitted to your figure and not too big or too tight. Aim for a fit like in the picture above... sweet dreams!

Oxblood Details

As I said in the previous blog, yes the name oxblood is not exactly the most appealing name for a color, but just look at it...it's...amazing. Maybe it's just me and my obsession for any sort of burgundy tone... or maybe it’s because I love red wine.... or maybe...

Right. You get the point. I am obsessed... but hear me out. Somehow this shade is modern and timeless at the same time. Yes it was all over fashion week in the Fall 2012 collections, but due to the muted nature of the color, this is one that will always remain in style.

If you do not want to go all out in an oxblood leather mini dress quite yet, the best start for you would be accessories. A great oxblood bag, pumps, boots, or even a great winter coat in this shade will be a great investment for your closet this fall.

Here are a few timeless items in this shade for you to drool over...and if you are truly a trend setter, go for the oxblood faux leather skinnies...

Time to Resurface

Wow - It has sure been a long time since my last blog post! After getting engaged in March, It seemed like I spent every minute of my spare time on wedding planning! Now that I am now happily married, I have time to start blogging again.... and what great timing, considering September tends to be the best month for new and fresh fashion.

I don't know about you, but this is my favorite time of the year. The morning air is becoming crisp and cool, the leaves are changing colors, and a whole new season of fashion falls upon us... (get it? Fallssss upon us? like the season?....) Anyways yes, if you are like me you are itching to wear boots, scarves, and layers layers layers.

Fall is my favorite season for style, because the weather is just cool enough to where layering is perfect, but not too cold to where you have to become an Eskimo in public. Luckily for me, I live in Austin, TX, and don't have to experience that horrible cold anymore! On the other hand, I get to experience the sweltering summers, and lets be honest, who feels chic drenched in sweat? and no, it does not look like the movies where people look amazing and "glisten" in the heat. Nope, this is more like swass central.... too much information?...

Whoops sorry I got a little off topic there.

Back to what I was talking about. Yes, I am thrilled about all of the trends this season.... leather, oxblood (not that appealing of a name but beautiful color), edgy rocker boots, winter white (yes for the millionth time you CAN wear white after labor day, just choose a creamier color vs stark white... bah I wanna slap people who follow this rule! sorry, I won't really slap you, but...come on...),baroque details, peplums, metal tipped shoes (still love), and kaleidoscopic prints - just to name a few.

I am so exited to be blogging again, and with all of the amazing new trends this fall, I have plenty of material to keep the blogs comin! Stay tuned!

Getting to the Point

Hello friends,

I finalllyyy have the time to sit down and write a quick blog....so here we go....

Each season I am always curious to see which trends will come and go, and which ones will last. Harem pants resurfaced for what seemed like a blink of an eye, and I hope to see those flame inspired Prada shoes burn out as fast as they ignited (cheesy,  but you know it was cleaver) because really, who wants to go to work with flames on their feet? (Don't answer that)

....Then, when are at your wits end and are ready to give up on your search for a timeless trend....it hits you.

There is just something so classy about a shoe with a point. You don't know what I mean you say? Well...I will enlighten you....

See these babies? Yup...literally to the point. I am loving that designers are catching on to this trend...it is so chic and looks great from work to weekend wear, and as a young adult nothing is better than a multipurpose investment!

Here are few styles that are sure to spice up your office to out-on-the-town ensemble....
